American Athena
Winds of Change points up the July 4th gala over at the Cotillion, which features the artwork of William Teach of the Pirate's Cove. Most of his pieces are in the style of 1940s pin-ups, which are by today's standards so very tame. (Compare/contrast: Jessica Simpson. Not that I'm necessarily complaining, mind you.)
My favorite of Teach's subjects is his reinterpretation of Captain America.

Tell that Marvel guy he's out of a job. And maybe, just maybe, this version of Lady Liberty—our American Athena—ought be our mascot in this war, seeing as how we face an enemy afraid of women and dogs.
Happy Independence Day!
