Yesterday's pro-independence demonstration in Beirut drew in excess of 800,000 people. Here's what it looked like.

Lebanon's population is just over four million—meaning that somewhere north of 20% of the population was in the streets. That's a lot of flags.

Robert Mayer at Publius Pundit has a solid roundup of Lebanese news and links. In short, the Syrian withdrawal may be escalating, pro-Syrian forces (including Hezbollah) are on the defensive, and international pressure continues to build.

Elsewhere in the region: ninjas! Personally, I find Iraqi women with guns more impressive.
