election liveblogging
3:15 am EST. Uhm. 99% of precincts have reported in NM. Bush leads by five points.
So why hasn't anyone called it, already? (I know, Fox does not want to be the first to formally announce Bush's reelection, but…)
2:18 am EST. Juan Williams is a goober.
That is all.
1:22 am EST. So close. Still hoping for 290 Red EV—so that Ohio won't matter.
12:41 am EST. Fox projects Bush wins Ohio.
YES!
12:32 am EST. The President is within 24 EV.
This could still take a while, unfortunately.
11:57 pm EST. Instapundit says CBS—gasp—just called Florida for Bush.
More, please…
11:42 pm EST. Susan Estrich is this close to crying.
11:28 pm EST. Back, after many incoming phone calls.
Bill Kristol on Fox all but called Florida for Bush. Unofficial, of course.
And my occasional co-blogger Doug Heinz just checked in from the moonbat capital of San Francisco. In his words: “People are depressed.”
10:42 pm EST. NH is within four hundred votes.
If Bush loses, I'm blaming Orrin Judd.
10:15 pm EST. Obama victory rally. Let's hope this is the first and last big Democratic celebration of the evening.
10:05 pm EST. Fox is projecting Pennsylvania for Kerry. Not unexpected, but damn. Apart from that, lots of “too close to call”.
While we have a lull in the news, I should note that here at andúnië.net headquarters, we also have a fair percentage of the editorial staff of the Hoosier Review: Zach Wendling, Jessica Pollack, Dan Levin, and Nicholas Blesch.
And currently we are multitasking with three computers and two TVs. Sound off on CNN, naturally…
9:15 pm EST. NH still very much in play.
Will Collier at Vodkapundit suggests that NJ might have been called too early. Hmm.
8:58 pm EST. We will get a swing state result.
Any. Day. Now.
For what it's worth, the results thus far are exactly matching my prediction from Monday—for the narrow Bush win, not the expansive one. Dang.
8:48 pm EST. Florida 55-45 Bush, with 29% of precincts counted.
For what that's worth.
8:41 pm EST. Eh…sorry about the absence.
Both Carolinas for Bush. Edwards = Deadweight Breck Girl.
8:05 pm EST. Argh. No NJ surprise. And some states—like Mississippi—too close to call?
Long night ahead.
7:55 pm EST. For a good table of state-by-state results, see Megapundit, which is currently showing the EV total as 39 R, 3 D.
Only (small) surprise is West Virginia, which is a Democratic state that nonetheless often votes Republican for president.
7:44 pm EST. Zell Miller's Georgia Senate seat taken, not surprisingly, by a Republican.
7:13 pm EST. InstaPundit says that our common webhost may be under DOS attack. Just in case you don't see any updates here. Or there.
7:07 pm EST. Bush IN, KY; Kerry VT. Not really news.
Apparently, Fox News is being particularly cautious in calling states. Right now wish I had two TVs and a cable splitter…
6:39 pm EST. Still no results yet. But if you're really worried about the exit polls—which, by the way, are now tightening—go read Jay Cost's The Horserace Blog.
Then come back here, of course.
6:00 pm EST. Yes, I've seen the exit polls, or what is passing for exit polls. And yes, they are kinda scary. The folks at The Corner aren't really helping, what with the banner reading “THE BUZZ: EXIT POLLS UNRELIABLE”. They're probably right, but it looks like, well, panic.
But I'm not ready to climb down from my last post. No way. (he says with white knuckles).
Okay, polls about to close here in Indiana.
Go figure. Look at all the 2000 data of states that Bush won easily showed him behind in exit polls. As a matter of fact, Gore looked better at this time then Kerry does now. I'm not worried at all.
Don't know about any DOS attack, but I'm noticing your site is moving a little slower than normal and has been all day. btw...I'll be firmly planted on the sofa with my finger poised over the F5 key on my laptop most of the evening.
And if you need a quick break from the election coverage, you can visit my site and countdown with me to my wedding day!
If CBS just called Florida, and Fox shows Bush ahead 52% with 97% of votes counted there, then all we need is like Colorado 9, Iowa 7, Alaska 3, Wisconsin 10, plus 4 more to get 270, using the latest Fox figures. I don't think I will be getting sleep any time soon.
